WhatsApp Voice Call Update Empowers Business AI Features

WhatsApp Voice Call Update Expands Access

WhatsApp has taken a step to step up its business acumen with new artificial intelligence mechanisms. The latest WhatsApp voice call update introduces the ability for large businesses to connect directly with customers through voice calls. Additionally, this new functionality paves the way for integrating AI-powered voice agents into the platform.

Similarly, WhatsApp is also exploring AI-based product recommendations, which Meta designed for individual users. Notably, WhatsApp Business currently serves over 200 million monthly active users, and it remains a significant revenue source for Meta.

Furthermore, executives have emphasized its importance in many of the company’s recent earnings reports. In addition, Meta essentially monetizes the platform basically through click-to-WhatsApp ads. The company also charges businesses for premium messaging services.

While the AI-powered tools are currently offered at no cost, Meta has hinted at the possibility of monetizing these features in the future. Subsequently, WhatsApp voice call and other updates will be effective once the technology secures widespread adoption.

AI Voice Agents Now Coming to Businesses

Moving forward, smaller business accounts currently enjoy the ability to initiate voice calls with their customers via WhatsApp. Notwithstanding, larger businesses were previously unable to access this capability. The WhatsApp voice call update now goes beyond voice functionality to these enterprises using the WhatsApp Business API. In the coming weeks, this will allow customers to call businesses and allow companies to return those calls seamlessly. Previously, businesses were unable to call customers back during the pilot tests conducted last year.

WhatsApp has also revealed that it will soon enable both sending and receiving voice messages between businesses and clients. Moreover, this update will now allow companies to build AI-powered voice agents. Practically, this development will support the management of their customer interactions. They can do this by working with a partner. These could include Vapi, ElevenLabs, Coval, or Phonic. Moreover, these startups provide the tools to develop voice agents that can communicate naturally with users. The introduction of these WhatsApp voice call updates can additionally handle customer queries efficiently through WhatsApp.

Product Suggestions and Global Rollout Underway

WhatsApp has also started widening its AI-based customer chat support system. Meta tested the feature last year, and it is now being rolled out to more merchants. Fortunately, WhatsApp billed this event to start with those in Mexico. Businesses using the system will benefit from faster response times and better customer satisfaction rates.

Beyond voice and messaging, the company is experimenting with AI to enhance product discovery. TechPolyp gathered that WhatsApp also aims to bring AI-generated product recommendations to sellers. This is based on user preferences and behaviour. Additionally, Meta stated that after initiating a recommendation or chat, the AI could also respond to follow-up questions. Alternatively, it can deliver practical updates directly through WhatsApp.

The WhatsApp voice call update and these new AI functions are now becoming available for business clients globally. The rollout will continue over the next several weeks, reaching a broader user base with each phase.

The continued growth of WhatsApp has enabled Meta to remain focused on transforming the app into an innovative, responsive business platform. This event suggests that the development blends communication and commerce. Interestingly, this update comes with a catch that excludes losing the simplicity that users trust.
