Latest WhatsApp Updates Enhance Chats Calls and Channels With New Features

Date:

The “Green App” has added a slew of new updates across chats, calls, and channels. These WhatsApp updates are designed to enhance users’ messaging and calling experience as they contend with popular services like Telegram and Discord.

The update included many notable additions, the chief one being an “Online” indicator. This indicator appears at the top of a group chat and reveals how many people are currently around to chat.

Among other WhatsApp updates is the chat feature, which allows you to highlight certain notifications. To do so, add a “Notify for” setting and select “Highlights.” The essence is to limit notifications for @mentions, replies, and messages from saved contacts or “All” to receive all notifications.

Moving forward, another update provides the option to scan and send documents on an iPhone. Users are to select “scan document” from the attachment options to access this. The latest WhatsApp update allows users to follow the steps to scan, crop, and save the document.

Similarly, iPhone users can now set WhatsApp as their default messaging and calling app. iPhone users can also pinch to zoom in during video calls.

These WhatsApp updates also include upgraded video technology to make video calls more reliable. The video will also be higher quality, which should reduce dropped calls and video freezing. The app’s improved bandwidth detection should also allow for more HD-quality video calls.

Recall that WhatsApp has allowed users to create events in group chats for some time now. So, the app is now rolling out the ability to create an event in 1:1 conversations. Additionally, the events feature is getting updated with the ability to RSVP as “maybe,” invite a plus one, and add an end date and time. You can also pin events so they’re easier to find.

The latest WhatsApp updates also include adding someone to an ongoing 1:1 call from a chat thread. You can do this by tapping the call icon at the top of your screen and then selecting “Add to call.”

Channels are also getting the latest WhatsApp updates, as admins can now record and share short videos with followers. Admins can also share unique QR codes that link directly to their channel. You can also get a written summary of voice message updates from channels. This will allow you to get yourself up to speed when you’re on the go and unable to read individual messages.

Recently, WhatsApp added a music status, bringing nostalgic social media features for expressive updates.
