Ever since Meta AI was introduced on WhatsApp, the messaging app has been working to improve in-app features. Recently, according to the WABeta report, the app has rolled out a new AI-powered feature that allows users to generate profile photos for group chats. Previously, it was thought that WhatsApp would bring a similar feature that could generate personal profile photos. Contrary to this expectation, this capability is not yet available for personal profile pictures. Instead, those with access to Meta AI within WhatsApp can now utilize WhatsApp AI to create unique and customized group images, making it easier to set up visually distinctive icons.
How It Works
The company is testing a new method that will allow WhatsApp users to make AI-powered group icons. While earlier, the feature was suggested to be made available for individual chats, it is now becoming exclusive to group conversations. Found in the WhatsApp Android beta 2.25.6.10, AI-based group icons are reaching beta testers via the Google Play Beta Program. It may soon be open for more users.
One can use the new feature to create AI-based profile pictures for their group and can even modify them. Users who can access the Meta AI in WhatsApp will discover a new option to generate a group image, creative icons, and more through AI.
The feature is perfect for times when we don’t find a good image for the group’s profile. All you have to do is describe the new picture you want to create with AI and let the bot do everything. It is also helpful for communities.
Instead of searching for a picture or taking a new photo, users can simply describe their desired image, and Meta AI will generate a custom group icon based on their input.
AI-generated group icon features are becoming available to more users, not just beta testers.
Who Is Eligible?
More users might soon be able to try AI-generated group icons, even if they are not part of the beta program.
In addition to this, WhatsApp is rolling out a redesigned composer interface for text status updates.
The new feature will allow some beta users to customize their status more easily.
