Hidden Words Feature Customizes Threads Experience

Date:

Threads, Meta’s contender to X, now has its Threads Hidden Words setting that operates differently from Instagram. The feature enables users to filter out posts that contain words, phrases, or emojis you don’t want to see. This applies to feeds, searches, profiles, and replies.

Previously, Threads Hidden Words was connected to Instagram. Therefore, the filters that you entered applied to content on both platforms. Moving forward, users can now create a separate list of hidden words on Threads to further personalise the content they see. It’s noteworthy that this happens without affecting what you view on Instagram.

Additionally, Threads also announced that you can now set time limits for filters. This is particularly helpful in places where you don’t want to block specific words, phrases, or emojis permanently. Furthermore, the Threads Hidden Words feature now enables users to set filters that expire within 30 days. Moreover, this allows users to choose the option to “snooze” specific terms until they’re ready to see related content again.

For instance, this setting could be helpful in situations where you’re not caught up on a TV show. In essence, you can avoid spoilers on your feed. However, you still can see posts about the show subsequently.

Threads Hidden Words: Meta pushes Threads toward independence from Instagram

It’s noteworthy that the move comes two weeks after the social network began testing a DM inbox. This new inbox is distinct from users’ Instagram DM inboxes. Following today’s announcement and the updates about direct messages, there’s a recommendation for something bigger. Given these developments, TechPolyp suggests that Meta may be working to make Threads a more independent service outside of Instagram.

As Threads continues to put X on its toes, the social network has been releasing numerous features each month. Threads Hidden Words stands out as a notable example of its evolving personalisation tools, which is interesting.

Recently, the company launched the ability for users to view posts from other users on the Fediverse within a dedicated feed. In addition to this development, there is now an option to search for Fediverse users directly in Threads.

It’s noteworthy that the platform is also trying spoiler text. And beyond the Threads Hidden Words, the app now allows creators to use their Threads profiles to distribute links and monitor clicks.
