Amit Yoran, the CEO and chairman of cybersecurity company Tenable, passed away on Friday after a courageous battle with cancer. Yoran was a prominent cybersecurity industry figure known for his visionary leadership and contributions to the field.
Tenable confirmed Yoran’s passing in a press release, highlighting his remarkable career and lasting impact on the company. On December 5, Yoran took a medical leave of absence, during which CFO Steve Vintz and COO Mark Thurmond were appointed interim co-CEOs. They will continue in their roles while the company searches for a permanent CEO.
Yoran joined Tenable as CEO in 2016 and played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s culture and mission. His prior experience includes serving as president of RSA, founding CEO of NetWitness, and CEO of In-Q-Tel, reflecting a career marked by groundbreaking achievements in cybersecurity.
