Spotify, a popular music streaming platform, is hosting explicit content, including pornographic material, in its search results. This is despite the company’s policies prohibiting sexually explicit content.

On December 28, aReddit user discovered a pornographic video titled “Mia Khalifa Fu¢ks on Casting Couch” while searching for the singer Mia Khalifa on Spotify. The explicit content was removed after it was reported, but it raises concerns about the platform’s content moderation.

This is not the first time explicit content has been found on Spotify. In 2022, Vice discovered various pornographic images on the platform, and more recently, a Reddit user reported finding explicit audio content in their Discover Weekly playlist.

Spotify’s terms of service state that the platform is designed for listeners aged 13 and above. However, the presence of explicit content raises concerns about the platform’s safety and age-appropriateness for younger users.

Spotify has removed the explicit content in question, but the company has not provided a clear explanation for how the content bypassed its moderation policies. A spokesperson for the company stated that the content was removed due to a violation of Spotify’s policies.
