The screen manufacturer Samsung Display, a division of Samsung Electronics, announced on Sunday that it will introduce a flexible range of foldable and organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screens at the next CES 2025 with the goal of extending its reach beyond smartphones into the IT and automotive industries.

According to Yonhap news agency, the company’s flagship foldable panels for IT gadgets and state-of-the-art display solutions for cars will be on display at its showroom during the annual US tech expo, which begins Tuesday and runs for four days in Las Vegas.

Highlighting its developments in automotive and artificial intelligence applications, Samsung Display is expanding on its experience as a provider of foldable displays for Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Z Flip and Fold series.

Along with novel items like slidable and multi-foldable screens, the exhibit’s main attraction will be the first 18.1-inch foldable monitor in history.

When unfolded, the 18.1-inch foldable panel for IT devices has a screen size equivalent to two tablets. It folds up to reveal a 13.1-inch laptop screen with touch screen capabilities.

Additionally, OLED-enabled laptops and tablets will be on display. These devices are perfect for outdoor use because of their greater color reproduction and lower power consumption.

In addition to IT gadgets, Samsung Display is aiming to improve driver assistance features, functionality, and the aesthetic appeal of car interiors with a range of cutting-edge goods. The demo cockpits with under-panel camera (UPC) technology, which seamlessly incorporates the camera beneath the display, are a noteworthy addition.

For the first time, UPC technology—which was first created for foldable screens to provide a seamless full-screen experience—is being used in automobiles.
