Amazon’s Ring has partnered with fire safety brand Kidde to launch a smart smoke alarm at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. The new product integrates Ring’s home security technology and delivers alerts via the Ring mobile app.

The collaboration introduces two models:

  • Kidde Smart Smoke Alarm with Ring priced at $54.97.
  • Kidde Smart Smoke and CO Alarm with Ring priced at $74.97.

Both models will be available in April 2025. In addition, Ring is launching a $5-per-month subscription service that offers 24/7 professional monitoring and access to emergency dispatchers.

This expansion is part of Ring’s broader push into smart home safety. Known for its video doorbells and camera-equipped devices, Ring’s new product taps into the growing demand for integrated home safety solutions. The collaboration with Kidde adds fire and carbon monoxide detection to its offerings, bolstering its position in the smart home ecosystem.

The smoke alarms can function independently of Ring Home subscriptions, making them accessible to a wider range of users.

Ring’s dominance in the home security space continues to grow. Together with rival SimpliSafe, it accounts for 20% of the U.S. professional monitoring market. The introduction of fire safety products strengthens its competitive edge against rivals like Google Nest.

Ring’s profitability, confirmed by CEO Liz Hamren in 2023, highlights the company’s successful diversification into various smart home technologies.

Liz Hamren, CEO of Ring, emphasised the importance of accessible safety solutions: “Our partnership with Kidde brings life-saving technology into more homes, making safety a seamless part of everyday living.”

The Ring-Kidde smart smoke alarms are set to redefine fire safety in smart homes. With their affordability, advanced features, and optional professional monitoring, these products align with Ring’s mission of creating a safer, connected future.
