Lebara, a UK-based telecommunications company, has officially announced its plans to enter the Nigerian market, with a commercial launch scheduled for 2026. The company will operate as a licensed Tier 5 Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) under the regulatory purview of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). This strategic move positions Lebara to compete effectively within Nigeria’s crowded telecom sector by introducing a value-driven model that focuses on customer needs.

The company’s market strategy hinges on offering transparent pricing, reliable connectivity, and specialised bundles for both voice and data services. By prioritising a customer-centric approach, Lebara aims to differentiate itself from established players and appeal to a broad demographic seeking more flexible and affordable options. This value proposition is designed to disrupt the status quo and offer consumers ternative that prioritises clarity and quality.

Lebara Launches Hotline for Phone Number Reservation

In preparation for its nationwide rollout, Lebara has already activated key market-entry tools to build early momentum. The company has unveiled a dedicated “0724” hotline where customers can call to request for phone number reservation, enabling prospective subscribers to secure their preferred digits ahead of the official launch. Additionally, an Agent Registration Portal has been opened to onboard distributors and Point of Sale (POS) outlets, signalling an aggressive push for both digital and physical market penetration across the country.

Teniola Stuffman, Chief Executive Officer of Lebara Nigeria, characterised the expansion as a defining moment for the brand. She highlighted that while Nigeria is rich in talent and ambition, many citizens still lack access to a more inclusive and globally connected future. Stuffman emphasised that Lebara’s mission goes beyond basic telephony, aiming instead to serve as a gateway to international commerce, education, and meaningful participation in the global digital economy.
