As Snapchat continues to compete with Instagram and TikTok, the company introduced a suite of new tools on Thursday. These programs were designed to make it easier for Snapchat creators to create and share content directly on the platform.
The social network is launching a “Timeline Editor” feature. It includes a new way to create videos from saved Memories, the ability to auto-save Stories to profiles, and more additions to streamline creative work.
Snapchat Deploy Creative Tools to Empower Creators
Additionally, the new Timeline Editor will offer Snapchat creators a more intuitive way to edit videos on the platform. The Timeline Editor displays your video chronologically, making it easier to trim, move, or rearrange clips without hassle.
Furthermore, once the sequence is set, Snapchat creators can add Lenses, choose music from the Sounds library, and apply other creative tools. This tool may remove the need to use third-party apps like CapCut for basic video edits before posting on Snapchat.
Creators will also access a new “Create a Video” template. It allows them to pick Memories, select a song, and choose a template. The tool then generates a custom compilation video. This feature is rolling out globally on iOS devices.
Snapchat Creators: Deeper Insights and Story Preservation Features
Snapchat creators will soon be able to save public Stories to their profiles automatically. This change will make revisiting content easier, allow creators to build a lasting collection of their top content, and preserve their creative history.
While this may lessen Stories’ ephemeral appeal, it serves those looking to archive or showcase key moments over time. In addition, Snapchat is giving creators access to more insights. These analytics help them better optimize their posts and understand audience behaviour.
Snapchat creators can now view the number of people who watched their public content for at least 12 days over the last month. This metric helps track returning viewers and measure engagement. It also shows which Stories and Spotlight posts earned the most views recently.
Creators also see total view time across all content, offering a broader picture of how content performs over time. Snapchat creators gain insights into traffic sources. They’ll see views based on where audiences found the post. This could be Discover For You, Following, Spotlight, or Search.
They’ll also see Chat and Profile views, providing a clearer sense of how fans interact with different public posts. Finally, Snapchat creators get stats on how long users watch Spotlight posts and the average completion rate across all Spotlight content.
The new wave of development is beyond the creators, Snapchat now focuses on other aspects. This particularly event evidences its all-round development across board, including its launching into wearables game.
