Samsung enthusiasts have launched a petition demanding the removal of the head of the company’s camera division. They allege that mismanagement has caused Samsung cameras to fall short compared to rivals. The petition outlines eight points: hardware stagnation, inadequate image quality, absence of AI advancements, and decreasing consumer confidence.

Samsung’s smartphones were once famous for their camera features. That still holds some truth today. Samsung’s top-tier smartphones, such as the Galaxy S25 series, capture photos well. Nonetheless, the smartphone markets evolved, becoming increasingly competitive, with numerous brands producing phones that offer equally impressive, if not superior, camera features.

Samsung Enthusiasts Demand Replacement of Camera Head

Samsung enthusiasts are demanding the replacement of the leader of Samsung’s camera division. In a request directed to Samsung’s Mobile Experience, Tae-Moon Roh, supporters are urging Roh to change the head of the company’s camera division. The petition states, “Samsung used to be a frontrunner in mobile imaging, but currently, because of the significant mismanagement and strategic shortcomings of the camera division’s leadership, Galaxy cameras fall behind rivals in hardware, software, algorithms, and general user experience.”

It further states, “Should prompt action not be implemented immediately, Samsung’s standing in mobile imaging will face irreversible harm. “We highly recommend that you change the leader of the camera division and initiate a thorough overhaul.” Will Samsung respond to this request? It’s difficult to determine, yet the arguments are pretty persuasive. Supporters are providing eight explanations as to why

The petition continues by outlining eight reasons for Roh to take this action. Fans highlight that there has been a lack of significant advancements in camera hardware for several years. Secondly, they lament that Samsung’s technology is falling behind its rivals. This includes phones made by Apple, Huawei, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo.

Company Reportedly Ignoring User Feedback

Samsung users seem not very pleased that the company is apparently overlooking their feedback. They assert that numerous persistent problems, such as inadequate shadow detail, excessive noise, and unnatural skin tones, remain unaddressed. These customers are also unhappy with Samsung for apparently “blindly imitating Apple” and, in turn, losing its unique identity.

Next, there is the concern of bias in skin tone processing. Users assert that rendering Asian or Caucasian skin tones leads to an overly “yellow-black” appearance. Users are frustrated with sluggish and biased updates, where older devices get late updates or lack optimisations.

One reason fans cite is that Samsung is allegedly “opposing AI advancement.” Users allege that Samsung is unwilling to implement AI computational photography technologies like Google’s HDR+ or Huawei’s XMAGE tool. Finally, supporters appear to have lost confidence in the brand’s direction, resulting in a breakdown of consumer trust.
