The PS5 just added a 30th Anniversary update that brings with it some incredible nostalgic touches from all generations of Sony’s console – but it won’t be around forever.

PlayStation fans are celebrating the brand’s 30th Anniversary this year, and while we’re still waiting to hear if a mysterious event could happen, Sony has released a touching tribute to some of the biggest franchises that paved the way.

The 30th Anniversary “Thank You” video shows clips from Horizon, The Last of Us, Crash Bandicoot and more (even Bloodborne ), and as touching as it is, it’s not the only thing PS5 fans can enjoy.

A new feature update for the PlayStation 5 has gone live, and a new feature lets players “change parts of the PS5 design based on your favorite generation of PlayStation,” thanks to new visual and audio touches from prior consoles.

PlayStation fans love the new nostalgic system sounds

With classic themes like the Sony Computer Entertainment Intro from the PlayStation 1, the PS2 bootup theme and audio, and much more, fans are going wild.

Over on the PlayStation subreddit, one fan said “My PS5 just updated with the new themes. The sounds in the PS2 theme were an immediate nostalgia bomb.”

“My whole body genuinely got goosebumps when I selected the PS2 theme. The truest feeling of nostalgia I’ve ever had,” another said.

“I restarted my PS5, and the boot up with the old PS logo and sound just sent a chill down my spine,” a third added.

Sadly, the nostalgia can’t go on forever. Sony says the celebratory themes are “for a limited time”, so you best enjoy them while you can.

“Damn it, I don’t want it only for a limited time. Let me put the PS2 theme permanently!” one fan asked, while another said “Insane this customization is all just for a limited time. Seems like some serious effort went into this just to only have it for who knows how long. After people begging for themes and the like for years too now.”Here’s hoping this is an indicator that more themes could come eventually.
