Pcmag report says OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has announced that all ChatGPT Plus users will receive unlimited access to the Sora video generator over the holidays. This limited-time offer is due to reduced server usage during the holiday period.

Standard ChatGPT Plus subscribers ($20/month) were previously limited to generating 50 videos per month, with a maximum length of 20 seconds and a lower resolution (480p). Higher-resolution videos (720p) were capped at fewer than 50 per month.

With this special offer, ChatGPT Plus users can now generate unlimited videos using Sora, without the previous restrictions. This is a great opportunity for users to explore their creativity and experiment with the AI video generator.

According to Altman, OpenAI’s GPUs experience reduced usage during the holiday period, allowing the company to offer unlimited access to Sora. This move follows “unexpected demand” for Sora, which led to temporary restrictions on new user sign-ups.

CEO Sam Altman wrote on X: “Our GPUs get a little less busy during late December as people take a break from work, so we are giving all plus users unlimited Sora access via the relaxed queue over the holidays!”

Sora was finally revealed on Day 3 of the 12 Days of OpenAI event after almost a year of teasing from the AI lab. It was first announced early in 2024 and at the time was better than any other AI video tool available.
