The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has said it is aware of the poor internet Quality of Service (QoS) currently being experienced in Abuja. This problem which has lingered for about three days has affected telecommunications service for millions of subscribers.
The Commission stated that it is working with the telcos and other relevant stakeholders to address these issues. It stated that the issues are primarily due to disruptions in diesel supply affecting IHS Nigeria Limited. This colocation provider powers Airtel and MTN base stations in those regions.
Also, the Commission explained that the disruptions were a result of issues with the National Oil and Gas Suppliers Association (NOGASA). According to the statement, the current issues affected diesel deliveries to locations, resulting in telecommunications service interruptions in Abuja.
The NCC stated it is dedicated to providing uninterrupted communication services for all Nigerians. It highlighted the critical need for dependable power supply for delivering optimal telecommunication services.
