Mark Zuckerberg just made a power move. The Meta CEO announced the induction of three corporate titans, Dana White, John Elkann, and Charlie Songhurst into the Meta’s board of directors.

Meta is resolute in ensuring it stays competitive in the next revolution in social media and connectivity. This can be inferred given the three new heavyweights added to the membership of Meta’s board of directors.

Profiles of New Inductees Into Meta’s Board Directors

  • Dana White: He is the face behind the UFC’s explosive rise from an amateur league to a global sports empire. White is skilled and proficient at building a powerhouse brand. He has earned a reputation for turning a little-known street fighting competition into a cash spinner. He could bring some serious edge to Meta’s strategy. He will play a vital role, especially at this time when Meta is intensifying its focus on immersive experiences like VR and AR.
  • John Elkann: He is the brains behind Exor (the holding company for giants like Ferrari and Stellantis). Elkann’s expertise in steering massive global businesses could be a game-changer for Meta. He will be helping the company to navigate international markets and regulatory landscapes.  The tech giant will be thrilled to have the chairman of Ferrari on its board of directors.
  • Charlie Songhurst: He is a tech industry veteran who’s been advising Meta behind the scenes on AI and long-term tech strategy. He has a background at Microsoft and a reputation as a clever investor. Songhurst’s deep tech know-how could help Meta stay ahead in the AI arms race.
