Shortly after TechPolyP’s post about Meta’s latest release, the company has launched the Meta Vanguard smart glasses with Oakley. This announcement was made official at Meta Connect 2025 on Wednesday, September 17 September 17, 2025. TechPolyp suggests that this is the company’s boldest step into wearable tech for athletes.

In addition, Meta Vanguard smart glasses are built for performance, designed for runners, cyclists, and fitness enthusiasts. These glasses will retail for $499 and will hit stores on October 21, later this year.

Moving forward, the glasses will feature a single unified lens across the front, marking a departure from past Meta smart glasses designs. These glasses will use Oakley’s PRIZM Lens technology for clarity and protection. Another development is the wraparound style, which shields users from sun, wind, and dust.

Considering the durability of these glasses, the Meta Vanguard smart glasses carry an IP67 rating. By implication, this covers dust resistance and water protection during workouts.

Introduction of New Features

Moving ahead, Meta has added strong imaging features for creators. One of these features also includes the glasses capturing 3K resolution video with a 12MP camera. Additionally, it has a 122-degree wide-angle lens that ensures broader scene coverage.

Sound quality is also a significant upgrade in this product release. They come with powerful open-ear speakers, six decibels louder than before. According to Meta, these are the loudest yet on any of its glasses.

In the long run, audio clarity matters for calls and AI prompts. The glasses include a five-microphone array, which reduces wind noise during workouts or cycling.

Additionally, athletes need long-lasting gear. Therefore, the Meta Vanguard smart glasses were designed to deliver up to nine hours of use. However, the hours drop to six hours during continuous music playback.

Meta also added fast and reliable charging. Specifically, a case adds 36 extra hours of power. Quick charging delivers 50% battery within 20 minutes.

Meta Vanguard Smart Glasses Came With Infused Smart Integration

Meta is targeting athletes directly with smart integration. Additionally, the glasses connect with Garmin smartwatches for real-time data, allowing users to check pace, heart rate, or workout stats hands-free.

Additionally, Meta also synchronizes with Strava for performance tracking. Moving forward, videos and photos can show overlaid performance metrics. A seamless and visual experience will feature via sharing with the Strava community.

In the same vein, Meta has added programmable AI triggers, which are button that allows athletes to set a custom AI command. Additionally, Meta placed controls underneath; hence, provides coverage for the helmet to be used without discomfort.

Additionally, voice integration with Meta AI makes training interactive. By implication, athletes can issue commands mid-run without losing focus.

In the future, the Meta Vanguard smart glasses will launch in multiple markets. These will include the US, Canada, the UK, and several EU countries. In addition, Meta will later expand into Mexico, India, Brazil, and the UAE. After the launch, four frame and lens combinations will be available. Similarly, these glasses are available in black with PRIZM Road, white with PRIZM Sapphire, and several other colours.

Meta Vanguard Smart Glasses’ Competition and Strategy

In a significant stride, Meta is positioning Oakley as its athletic flagship. The launch will be just months after the Oakley HSTN release. At the same event, Meta also unveiled Ray-Ban Meta 2, allowing the model to bring a built-in display and a longer battery.

TechPolyp suggests that Meta Vanguard smart glasses are eyeing a niche, which is to dominate both lifestyle and sports wearables.

Additionally, Meta is betting on athletes who want tech that performs just fine. As wearables reshape fitness, these glasses may set the pace. Oakley’s design and Meta’s tech could prove a winning match.
