Instagram declared on Thursday, that it will allow users to rearrange their grid. It also adds that it’s testing a way for users to quietly post to their profiles without having the content appear in their feeds. The social network is also starting to stream songs from Spotify directly to your Instagram Notes. You can also do this with a new initiative to support emerging creators. These updates are part of Instagram’s broader push to improve its Instagram creator tools.

Furthermore, Instagram says the ability to rearrange grids has been one of its most frequently requested features. This update will allow users to rearrange posts on their profile to customize the appearance of their grid. Till now, posts on your profile have appeared in chronological order. Moreover, pinning a post is the only way to keep older content at the top.

Instagram Creator Tools: Grid Editing and Quiet Posting Features Explained

Notably, the feature’s idea is to give users a way to make their grid layout more aesthetically pleasing. In the alternative, it highlights certain content above others. It also adds more flexibility to the growing suite of Instagram creator tools to give users more control over their profiles.

Moving forward, the announcement doesn’t come as a surprise. This results from how Instagram head Adam Mosseri said in January that the company was looking to release the feature.

It’s worth noting that Instagram reportedly developed the feature in 2022 but shelved the idea for some time. However, in 2025, Instagram will be ready to launch the update soon.

Instagram is testing the ability to quietly post content without broadcasting it to your followers’ feeds. It also adds that plans are underway to roll it out more broadly soon. This experimental feature adds a new layer to Instagram creator tools. Essentially, it makes it easier to share content without pressure.

Mosseri wrote in their blog post that “creative expression can feel intimidating, especially when posting something to feed.” This is why it’s introducing a new feature to make it easier for users. Consequently, users will also share content without having everybody’s eyes on it.

Of course, this feature likely won’t be used by people who want tons of likes on their posts, including creators and celebrities. It’s more for people focused on building their profiles without the pressure to perform.

Trial Reels and the Need for Creative Freedom

In furtherance, the feature is similar to trial reels. Trial reels are an Instagram feature that allows creators to test out new content by publishing videos that don’t appear to their followers. Instagram shared on Thursday that 40% of creators posted Reels more often after trying out trial reels. Interestingly, among those people, 80% saw their Reels reach more non-followers.

Mosseri says the two new creative features announced today are intended to give users “added flexibility over how and where your content shows up and help you create and share without added pressure.” These features tie into the platform’s effort to strengthen its Instagram creator tools.

Spotify Integration and Drafts Initiative for Creators

The new Spotify integration allows users to share any song they’re listening to in real-time on the streaming service in their Instagram Notes. Consequently, their followers see what kind of music they’re into.

The company also announced that it’s launching Drafts, an initiative that will invest in emerging talent. Through Drafts, Instagram will partner with creators to provide support that may include financial support and connections. Beyond that, co-ideation, collaboration opportunities, and a host of others are all within the framework of its evolving Instagram creator tools.

An Instagram spokesperson claimed that Drafts is not a dedicated creator fund. In addition, Instagram will “collaborate closely with creators to provide them with the type of support that best suits the needs of each of their unique creative projects.”

Meanwhile, Instagram, a social media platform owned by Meta, has started to copy yet another TikTok feature. TechPolyp earlier reported that the Instagram Reels fast-forward feature will strengthen the user experience by allowing faster content consumption
