Dark Mode has become quite popular lately. There is something relishing about browsing while in dark mode. It is increasingly becoming the default setting on browsers and websites. It has quite ardent supporters.

If you’re someone who consistently uses dark mode, you may have noticed that a lot of websites use bright/light mode only. You may be enjoying the peace and tranquility of dark mode, but you suddenly visit a page and are blinded by the eye-piercing lights. This could temporarily hamper your enjoyment and convenience using the web.

Fortunately, Google Chrome offers a secret setting that enables you to use dark mode on all websites you visit. It works fairly well for the most part, albeit it could sometimes distort your phone screen’s visibility. All you need to do is restart your browser and enable a Chrome flag.

There’s a tool called the Dark Reader extension. You may have already used it and found it to be excellent, but it isn’t compatible with Chrome for Android since Google doesn’t support extensions there. You can enable dark mode on all websites you visit on Chrome for Android by using the flag method, which we will explain below.

Use the following steps to activate this feature:

1. Open Chrome on your desktop or mobile device, type chrome://flags/ in the URL bar, and press Enter.

2. Next, enter “dark” in the Search flags field to find “Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents.” Then select the option.

3. After enabling Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents you will be requested to restart your browser. After restarting, visit a website without a dark mode. This website should have a dark theme if it is enabled correctly.

As said at the start of the guide, not all websites will adapt flawlessly because this is a bit of a Google hack. It could tamper with visibility. However, you should not experience any problems with the majority of websites. If you discover other options that you like, you may return to the Chrome flags and choose a different flag variant or reverse the change back to ‘Default’ from the drop-down menu.
