To broaden the reach of both Digicloud Africa and Google Cloud throughout Africa, Digicloud Africa has been designated as a distributor of Google Security Operations (SecOps) products in the region.

Google SecOps is a cloud-based security operations platform that provides a cohesive experience across SIEM (Security, Information and Event Management), SOAR (Security, Orchestration, Automation, and Response), and threat intelligence, enabling security teams to enhance their detection, investigation, and response to cybersecurity threats.

Pioneering Google Cloud Distributor in Africa

Digicloud’s CEO, Gregory MacLennan, states that the distributorship is an exhilarating advancement for Digicloud, which was the inaugural Google Cloud distributor for Africa and remains the top Google Cloud reseller enablement partner on the continent.

“This is an effort we have been pursuing for several years, which positions us among a small group of SecOps distributors globally and uniquely in Africa,” says MacLennan.

David Roos will lead the Digicloud Google SecOps division, bringing 26 years of experience in IT infrastructure, messaging, and security, along with a decade of experience in DevSecOps and significant management skills.

“Google stands out in security, and they’ve made astute target acquisitions to enhance and simplify their offerings.” Significantly, it remains neutral. This enables you to integrate it into your on-premise setups and various cloud environments, helping customers remain both cloud native and cloud agnostic,” he remarked.

Roos stated that Google SecOps represents a significant advancement in consolidating all security intelligence into one interface. This is achievable through Google’s distinctive Unified Data Model, which automatically standardises all your security data, regardless of source, providing analysts with a single source of truth for each investigation.

“Plus, they have AI embedded natively, so you can use natural language, nd you don’t need to use complex querying languages. It also offers auto-AI automation on tasks based on your program, and will then take care of the bulk of the easy work to free up your frontline staff.”

Upgrading Security Operations Centres

Louis van Schalkwyk, Head of Technical Operations at Digicloud Africa, stated that Google SecOps meets a demand in the local market to upgrade Security Operations Centres (SOCs).

“Google provides a contemporary set of tools to safeguard your business resources, addressing numerous issues associated with conventional SIEM systems, while also granting access to threat intelligence from a worldwide leader.” When combined with AI, organisations can identify and protect themselves from threat actors more quickly, thereby reducing the likelihood of a breach. In the event of a breach, customers can be confident that they have access to specialised incident response teams, he stated.

MacLennan mentioned that Google’s uptake is increasing significantly throughout Africa, and Digicloud expects that clients will appreciate the local access to Google SecOps.

The potential market is substantial, encompassing large companies that handle sensitive information. Others include security service providers seeking to enhance their clients’ security. Google clients consistently seek to access a broader range of Google products, and enhancing cyber resilience is a key focus amid increasing cyber threats,” he remarked.
