Google Cloud earlier in the week, unveiled some new products and a list of AI Startups it backs, in its drive to lead the future of artificial intelligence.
The tech giant showcased a staggering number of AI companies that have selected Google Cloud as their launching pad to scale, innovate, and transform whole sectors. The events took place at the company’s annual conference, Google Cloud Next 2025.
Google Cloud is at the forefront of a significant change in the AI world, as evidenced by this year’s exhibition of startups, which features everything from robotic systems and innovative code editors to generative media platforms and legal AI tools. The two main product launches at the conference were:
- Ironwood: This is Google’s next-generation AI processor chip designed to push the boundaries of large-scale machine learning.
- Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash: This is the newest model in its fast-evolving Gemini family, designed for low-latency, real-time operations.
However, the highlight of the Google Cloud 2025 conference is the exhibition of the company’s growing ties with startups and the AI ecosystem. Google is quietly and aggressively forging ties with a plethora of innovative AI Startups to compete with other cloud service providers like Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.
‘A’ List Startups Supported By Google Cloud
Google unveiled a list of renowned startups that are currently using its cloud platform to support their services. Most of the listed startups have previously received funding or other forms of support from several reputable firms in Silicon Valley. They include:
- Safe Superintelligence (SSI): It is a firm founded by OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever, centered on developing AI that is quite powerful and safe. Not much about the company is known to the public except its affiliation with Google.
- Anysphere: It is the creator of Cursor, a popular AI coding tool that is now competing with GitHub Copilot. It has purportedly attained a $10 billion valuation and makes use of Google Cloud.
- Hebbia: It is a legal technology tool that searches and analyzes complex documents using artificial intelligence. It is backed by GV, Peter Thiel, Index, and a16z. The startup now uses Google’s Gemini models.
- Magic: This firm primarily focuses on automating coding and research using cutting-edge AI models. It is backed by CapitalG and Eric Schmidt. Magic raised $320 million last year. It is using GPUs from Google Cloud to support its expansion.
- Physical Intelligence: This startup is backed by Sequoia, Lux, Thrive, and even Jeff Bezos. The firm has raised $2.4 billion to build basic robotics software. The founders are from DeepMind at Google.
Others Are:
- Photoroom: This firm is one of the leading AI startups in Europe, situated in Paris. It is leading the way in AI picture and video editing with Google’s Veo 2 and Imagen 3.
- Synthesia: This firm is backed by NEA and GV. The photorealistic AI avatar company raised $180 million at a $2.1 billion value in January. It has developed tools that are based on several Google models.
Startups in this top category will now enjoy Google’s AI chips, models, and up to $150,000 in cloud credits.
Other Budding Startups Backed by Google
Google didn’t just focus on the top performing startups. It is offering support to a wide range of budding AI startups in industries like creative media and healthcare. They include:
- Augment Code: A tool used for coding autonomously.
- Autoscience: An AI tool for scientific research.
- Big Sur AI: AI-driven suggestions for purchases.
- Captions: A tool for video editing.
- Eon.io: A software that serves as a backup for business and sensitive data.
- Fal: Video and text-to-image generative tools.
- Spot AI: Security camera intelligence.
- Story: Blockchain technology for IP licensing and storage.
- StudyHall: For students and educational support.
- Ubie: Japanese healthcare diagnostics startup powered by AI.
- Udio: A platform for composing music with AI.
- Ufonia: AI medical assistants for communication with patients.
- Wagestream: A financial support tool.
- Wondercraft: For producing incredibly lifelike AI-generated sounds.
Google Cloud is making a name for itself in the AI market. The company is actively propelling the next wave of AI development by supporting an expanding network of AI startups.
