Billionaire Tesla and SpaceX proprietor Elon Musk has declared the postponement of the Grokipedia launch.

In a post on X, Musk announced the delay, stating that the decision was made to enhance its effectiveness. “Delaying the Grokipedia v0.1 release until the week’s end,” he mentioned, further noting, “We need more effort to eliminate the propaganda.”

Musk intends compete with Wikipedia with this new project. Grokipedia is an AI-driven knowledge platform designed to compete with Wikipedia by providing “unlimited access to truth” and eliminating bias, limitations, or concealed agendas.

Recall that last Saturday, Musk announced that the AI-driven knowledge platform would be launched on Monday (two days ago).

Musk Claims Grokipedia Surpasses Wikipedia

The billionaire entrepreneur claims that, on average, Grokipedia surpasses Wikipedia, and he is seeking critical feedback from users. “Even this first release is, in my opinion, superior on average to Wikipedia.” We will seek as much constructive criticism as we can.

Musk states that Grokipedia uses significant inference computation to integrate sources such as Wikipedia and various reference texts. Also, it will assess statements as accurate, partially true, false, or absent. It will then revise those entries to eliminate inaccuracies, rectify half-truths, and provide missing context.

Yet, it remains uncertain how the community will engage, whether through open editing, review processes, or appeals. Another important factor left to be seen is how Grokipedia will handle disagreements or differing viewpoints.

About Grok and Wikipedia

Grok, which is the AI model that backs Grokipedia is a large language model similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude and Google’s Gemini. It was developed by Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI.  The chatbot was launched in November 2023 and can be accessed via an app or through Elon Musk’s social media service, X.

Wikipedia is the world’s most popular encyclopedia, which over the past two decades, has become a behemoth, attracting more than 1.5 billion unique visitors a month, according to the Wikimedia Foundation.
