The well-known e-logistics service, DoorDash, has verified that a recent data breach allowed an unauthorised external party to access the personal data of many users.

According to the company, a DoorDash employee was the victim of a social engineering scheme. The company’s cybersecurity team detected the attack after which the unauthorised access was terminated, and law enforcement was notified.

Affected customers would be notified via email. DoorDash states that the precise number of people affected or the specific details revealed is uncertain. However, it would involve users’ names, phone numbers, email addresses, and physical addresses.

A piece of good news for users is that no sensitive information, including Social Security numbers, government IDs, driver’s licenses, or banking and card details, was stolen. Furthermore, DoorDash stated that as of the previous week, there have been no instances of the stolen data being used for fraudulent activities or identity theft. However, it’s wise to remain vigilant for any questionable emails or messages that require you to click on links or provide personal information.
