Apple plans to provide real-time translation to AirPods this year. The company is introducing this feature because it is heavily demanded by its customers. This new feature will be able to translate conversations instantly and do it in real time. This latest advancement in translation from Apple should be available by late 2025.
Apple Revolutionizing The AirPod
This is all part of Apple’s overall development plans for the AirPod. Remember its flagship AirPods Pro 2 which packs impressive features like hearing tests and other healthcare-related ones. The coming iOS 19 operating system will come with the software enhancement to support this feature on AirPods.
The basic concept of this feature is that the AirPods will instantly recognize the language as soon as both speakers begin speaking, and deliver simultaneous and instant translation.
Apple appears to have a lot of advancements planned for 2025. The new iPhone 16e went on sale on February 28. This was before it was known that the AirPods would be including this new translation feature.
How The AirPod Live Translation Feature Will Work
It would primarily function through an app. The demonstration shows that when an English speaker spoke to a Spanish speaker, the phone would listen to the Spanish speaker, translate, and send the translated text to the AirPods. The Airpods then decode the texts into voice narration for the listener. Likewise, the phone would wait for the response from the English speaker, translate it, and provide real-time translation by voice. It is not clear which AirPods models will receive this coming upgrade.
Launched in 2020, the Translate App for iOS now covers 19 different languages. Additionally, there are reports that Apple is developing a third-generation AirPods Pro model with built-in cameras and Apple Intelligence, which can visually analyze the user’s surroundings.
