Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative has launched a new national project for Nigerians. The project, called “AI Literacy for Everyday People,” aims to make artificial intelligence accessible to all Nigerians. The event which was held at NUJ Hall in Osogbo, where stakeholders from media, education, and innovation sectors attended the launch, will focus on AI Literacy program that addresses teaching every Nigerian how to utilise technology designed to assist human beings. Coincidentally, Founder of Naija AI Film Festival, Obinna Okerekeocha, in his recent interview with TechPolyp, observed the need to sensitize Nigerians on the need to adopt AI and train developers on using local language with our cultural nuances.
BBYDI’s Communication Director, Sanni Alausa Issa, who led the presentation, emphasised that Nigeria must not only utilise AI but also shape it. He believes technology should reflect local needs and ethics. Moreover, the initiative connects directly with the government’s new school curriculum, according to Issa. He said it aligns education, creativity, and technology into one shared mission.
Mr Issa praised the Federal Government’s education reform effort. He called it the most ambitious in recent history. Moving forward, the reform reintroduces history, skills, and ethics into learning. It comes with a focus on creativity and digital awareness. According to BBYDI, the company’s goal is to make learning practical again. AI Literacy: Teaching Artificial Intelligence in Everyday Language
