AUTO24.africa, the continent’s leading online marketplace for certified used cars, has taken a major step to boost its operations across Africa. The company has promoted Pierre Jégou to Chief Operating Officer (COO). This move is part of a broader effort to make car buying and selling safer, faster, and more reliable for Africans.
A New Leader for a Growing Market
In his new role, Pierre Jégou will be responsible for the day-to-day running of AUTO24.africa. He will oversee commercial performance and operational efficiency in five key African markets: Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, and South Africa. He will work closely with Axel Peyriere, the Co-Founder and CEO, who will continue to focus on the company’s long-term strategy and partnerships.
This appointment is a natural progression for Jégou, who joined the company in August 2024 as Commercial Performance Manager. Over the past two years, he has worked closely with country managers to improve sales and make business processes smoother. His promotion formalises the responsibilities he has already been handling successfully.
A Leader with Deep African Experience
Pierre Jégou brings a wealth of experience to his new position. Before joining AUTO24.africa, he spent nearly a decade working in Côte d’Ivoire, gaining valuable insight into the local business environment. His background includes roles in automotive financing, retail, and commercial real estate.
Notably, he previously served as Country Manager for Autochek in Côte d’Ivoire, where he was responsible for launching operations and building strategic partnerships. He also held purchasing and business development roles at Carrefour within CFAO, as well as an Area Manager position at Regus in Abidjan. This deep understanding of the African market is expected to be a major asset as AUTO24.africa continues to expand.
Driving Growth Across the Continent
AUTO24.africa has grown rapidly since it launched its automotive retail operations in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, in September 2022. Backed by Stellantis, a global leader in the automotive industry, the company expanded into Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, and South Africa in 2023. Today, it employs over 220 people across its operating markets.
The company’s main business involves purchasing, reconditioning, and selling certified used vehicles through both physical dealerships and online platforms. Used-car retail accounts for approximately 90% of its business activity. With Jégou as COO, the company aims to improve vehicle sourcing, speed up inventory turnover, and deliver a consistent customer experience across all its markets.

Dealing Beyond Used Cars
AUTO24.africa is not stopping at used cars. The company is also making significant strides in electric mobility through its platform EV24.africa. Pierre Jégou has already contributed to the development of this electric-vehicle marketplace. This focus on electric vehicles is part of a larger vision to promote sustainable and accessible mobility solutions for African drivers.
The leadership change at AUTO24.africa signals a new phase of growth and maturity for the company. With a seasoned leader like Pierre Jégou at the helm of operations, the company is well-positioned to strengthen its presence across the continent and continue building trust and transparency in Africa’s automotive market. For African consumers, this means better access to reliable vehicles and a more professional car-buying experience.
