Nigeria has taken another major step forward in supporting its growing technology sector. The Federal Government, through its Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (iDICE) Programme, has launched the iDICE Startup Bridge Growth Lab. This is a 12-week accelerator programme that will provide up to $350,000 in funding for 12 promising Nigerian tech startups. The Bank of Industry implements the programme and represents a significant commitment to nurturing the next generation of Nigerian technology entrepreneurs.
The Growth Lab is designed to help early-stage tech startups that have already developed their products and are ready to take their businesses to the next level. It offers not just funding, but also intensive business support, mentorship from industry experts, and training to help founders become investment-ready. This initiative is part of the broader iDICE programme, which is a $617 million Federal Government initiative designed to support young Nigerians aged 15 to 35 with skills and resources in the technology and creative sectors.
What is the iDICE Startup Bridge Growth Lab?
The Growth Lab is an accelerator programme that represents the next phase of the iDICE Startup Bridge founder support initiative. It builds on the success of the Founders Lab, which focuses on helping entrepreneurs in the idea stage validate and refine their business concepts. While the Founders Lab is for those who are still developing their ideas, the Growth Lab is specifically designed for startups that have already developed a minimum viable product and have demonstrated early market traction.
The programme will select 12 tech-enabled startups from across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. This means that two startups will be chosen from each zone, ensuring that opportunities are spread evenly across the country. The selected startups will participate in an intensive hybrid programme that combines virtual sessions with two weeks of physical engagements in Lagos.
The Funding Structure
One of the most attractive aspects of the Growth Lab is its funding structure. Selected startups will receive a total of up to $350,000 in funding. This is broken down into two parts.
The first part is an immediate cash investment of $100,000, or its naira equivalent, which is provided upon entering the programme. This investment is made in exchange for 7.5 per cent equity in the startup, subject to terms and conditions. This immediate injection of capital can help startups cover operational costs, hire talent, or invest in product development.
The second part is a potential follow-on investment of up to $250,000. This additional funding is available if the startup meets certain growth conditions during the programme. This structure creates a strong incentive for founders to make the most of the accelerator experience and achieve their growth targets.
Who Can Apply?
The Growth Lab is open to technology-enabled startups that meet specific criteria. According to the National Coordinator of iDICE Startup Bridge, Ife Adebayo, eligible startups must have been operating for no more than 12 months. This means the programme is specifically targeting very early-stage companies that are still in their first year of operation.
Startups must also have reached the post-MVP stage. This means they have already developed a minimum viable product and are not just operating with an idea alone. Additionally, they must demonstrate evidence of market validation. This can be shown through users, customers, pilot projects, partnerships, waitlists, or other indicators that there is demand for their product or service.
Founders must be resident in any of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. This ensures that startups from all parts of the country have the opportunity to participate. Finally, applicants must be willing to participate fully in the hybrid programme, which includes both virtual sessions and physical engagements in Lagos.
The Programme Structure
The Growth Lab runs as a 12-week accelerator programme. It is designed as a hybrid experience, combining virtual engagements with two weeks of physical sessions. The virtual sessions allow founders to participate from their locations across the country, while the physical weeks in Lagos provide opportunities for in-person collaboration, learning, and networking.
During the programme, selected founders will gain access to structured growth support and investment-readiness preparation. They will receive mentorship from industry experts and be connected to strategic business networks. The programme also focuses on market expansion pathways, helping startups identify opportunities to grow their customer base and enter new markets.
The ultimate goal of the programme is to strengthen venture fundamentals and prepare companies for external investment. By the end of the 12 weeks, participating startups should be better positioned to attract additional funding from other investors.

How to Apply
Applications for the Growth Lab opened on July 15, 2026, and will close on August 19, 2026. Interested founders can register through the iDICE Startup Bridge portal at www.idicestartupbridge.ng.
The organisers have emphasised that the selection process will be conducted through a transparent, merit-based evaluation process. This means that all applications will be assessed fairly based on published criteria, and the best candidates will be selected regardless of their background or connections.
Encouraging Female Founders
The organisers have strongly encouraged female tech professionals and women-led startups to apply for the programme. This is part of a broader effort to ensure that women are well represented in Nigeria’s technology ecosystem. The programme recognises that female founders often face unique challenges in accessing funding and support, and it aims to create opportunities that are equally available to all qualified applicants.
A Broader Vision for Nigeria’s Tech Ecosystem
The Growth Lab is just one part of the larger iDICE programme, which is expected to support more than 500 Nigerian tech startups nationwide over successive cohorts. The programme is funded with support from international development partners including the African Development Bank, the Agence Française de Développement, and the Islamic Development Bank.
By providing structured early-stage capital and business support, the iDICE programme aims to strengthen Nigeria’s innovation pipeline and expand access to funding for young entrepreneurs. This is particularly important in a country where access to capital remains one of the biggest challenges facing startups.
A Significant Opportunity for Early-stage Tech Startups
The launch of the iDICE Startup Bridge Growth Lab is a significant opportunity for early-stage tech startups in Nigeria. With up to $350,000 in funding available, along with intensive business support, mentorship, and investment-readiness training, the programme offers a comprehensive package designed to help startups scale and succeed.
For founders of tech-enabled startups that have been operating for less than a year and have already developed a minimum viable product, this is a chance to take their business to the next level. The application window is open until August 19, 2026, and interested founders are encouraged to apply through the programme’s portal.
As Nigeria continues to position itself as a leader in Africa’s technology sector, initiatives like the iDICE Startup Bridge Growth Lab will play a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of founders and innovators.
