Adobe has announced it will discontinue Adobe Animate on March 1, 2026. The company updated its support site and sent emails to all users. Enterprise customers will continue receiving technical support until March 1, 2029. Other users will have support only until March 2026. Adobe said the move reflects its focus on evolving technologies and AI-driven tools.

However, the announcement leaves many users searching for software that fully replaces its functionality.

Adobe suggested that Creative Cloud Pro users use other applications to cover parts of the Adobe Animate workflow. After Effects supports complex keyframe animation through the Puppet tool. Adobe Express lets you add animation effects to photos, videos, text, and shapes. Still, these programs do not fully replicate Adobe Animate’s core capabilities. Creators feel the alternatives only provide partial solutions, forcing some to explore external options.

The decision follows months of neglect for Adobe Animate. The software did not appear at Adobe Max 2025, and no 2025 version was released. Despite discontinuation, the program will continue to work for users who have it installed. Historically, Adobe charged $34.49 per month, with discounted annual plans at $22.99 monthly or $263.88 prepaid. Users are now exploring alternatives like Moho Animation and Toon Boom Harmony.
