LG Electronics Nigeria has issued an urgent warning to consumers about fake televisions being distributed nationwide. It is advising customers to exercise caution when purchasing LG products.
The alert comes after disturbing videos online revealed unauthorised vendors wrapping non-LG televisions in counterfeit LG boxes and labels. This heightens concerns about safety and performance for unsuspecting buyers.
The company warned that the counterfeit TVs pose significant dangers, including inferior performance, potential electrical risks, and a lack of authentic LG warranties and customer support.
Moses Osime, the public relations manager at LG Electronics Nigeria, stressed that these products are neither produced nor distributed by LG or its authorised partners.
LG Urges Buying from Authorized Dealers Only
Customers are encouraged to adopt various measures to safeguard themselves. Buy LG TVs only from authorised LG dealers and certified retail stores. Inspect the factory seals, model numbers, serial codes, and warranty documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness. Be cautious of offers that seem too good to be true. LG also encourages users to register and validate their products through its official customer support channels.
Also, LG Electronics Nigeria reaffirmed its dedication to product quality and public safety. “We are greatly worried about the proliferation of fake TVs and the possible damage they may inflict on Nigerian households.” “Ensuring consumer safety and product authenticity continues to be our primary focus,” stated Osime.
The firm urged consumers to remain alert and educated while purchasing electronics, emphasising that authentic LG items ensure quality, safety, and dependable assistance. To confirm and obtain additional information, customers are encouraged to visit the official LG Electronics Nigeria website.
