Today is a big day for OpenAI as the company has unveiled a new flagship model, GPT-5.2. The new release has come immediately following a significant AI licensing agreement with Disney. GPT-5.2 follows OpenAI issuing a “code red” alert in response to Google’s swift advancements with its newest Gemini 3 model.
OpenAI stated that GPT-5.2 “sets a new standard across various benchmarks, including GDPval, where it surpasses industry experts in well-defined knowledge work tasks covering 44 professions.” The firm noted that its newest model offers “major advancements in overall smartness, long-context comprehension, autonomous tool usage, and vision. Also, it has an improved capability to perform intricate, real-world tasks from start to finish compared to earlier models.”
A Diverse Variants to Serve Individuals and Enterprises for Different Purposes
GPT-5.2 is once more offered in various options, with GPT-5.2 Instant, Thinking, and Pro being released today for Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans. Starting tomorrow, Free and Go users will have access to the new models.
GPT-5.2 Instant continues to be the top model for common queries. After extensive trials, OpenAI reported that initial users observed it offered more precise analysis compared to the earlier GPT-5.1 model. For more conplex queries, including programming jobs, GPT-5.2 is more suitable and “hallucinates less compared to GPT‑5.1 Thinking,” stated OpenAI.
