The Police Inspector General, Kayode Egbetokun, has unveiled Gateway Shield, an innovative safety and emergency response system developed by WilAct Consulting in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force.
Aimed at Enhancing Community Policing and Increasing Access to Law Enforcement
Gateway Shield aims to enhance community policing and increase accessibility to law enforcement through the use of technology. The platform enables individuals to report incidents, seek emergency assistance, and receive immediate aid from nearby police units. Access is available via a mobile app named Gatewayshield on the Google Play Store or App Store, at www.thegatewayshield.com, and through the toll-free number 0800-000-9111.
“GatewayShield was designed to ensure that safety is available to all,” stated Ayo Ogunlowo, Founder and Partner at WilAct Consulting. “It enables individuals to contact the Ogun State Police swiftly and securely, supporting law enforcement in responding more rapidly and fostering community trust.”
Furthermore, the system operates through a solar-powered digital command centre that operates 24/7. Also, it has organised patrol units backed up by a multilingual response team. It signifies a tangible move towards data-driven policing and updated public safety frameworks in Nigeria.
