Google just dropped news about their big hardware event coming up on August 20th. They’re doing it in New York City again, which means we’re getting another early launch instead of waiting until October like they used to do. This is exciting news as the Google Pixel 10 Launches August 20.
Google Launches Four Different Pixel Phones This Time
The company os bringing out four new phones at once: regular Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and that folding one called Pixel 10 Pro Fold. That’s way more phones than they usually announce at these things.
The basic Pixel 10 will be the cheapest option. Pro models cost more but have better features. The folding phone comes out right after Samsung released their new Galaxy Z Fold 7, so these companies are really going at each other now.
From what leaked photos show, the phones look pretty much the same as last year’s models. Google didn’t change much on the outside – they mostly worked on making the inside parts better.
Google Launches New Pixel Watch Too
They’re also showing off the Pixel Watch 4 at the same event. Google keeps trying to compete with Apple Watch and Samsung’s watches by adding more health tracking and battery life.
The watch will probably work better with Android phones and have more fitness features. Previous Pixel Watches were okay but had some battery problems that hopefully got fixed.
What to Expect when Google Pixel 10 Launches August 20
All four Pixel 10 phones get 12GB of memory and either 128GB or 256GB storage space. That’s more memory than older Pixel phones had, which should make them run faster when doing multiple things.
Battery got bumped up to 5,000mAh with 29W fast charging through a cable and 15W wireless charging. People complained that older Pixels charged too slowly, so Google finally did something about it.
The new Tensor G4 chip powers everything. Google makes these chips themselves instead of buying from other companies like Qualcomm. It’s supposed to work better and use less battery.
Camera and AI of Google Pixel 10
Google always talks up their camera features, and this year won’t be different. The Tensor G4 chip handles more AI tasks right on the phone instead of sending everything to Google’s servers.
Taking pictures in dark places should work better. Portrait mode probably got improvements too. Google’s really good at using software to make photos look better than the camera hardware alone could manage.
Having AI run locally on the phone means faster responses and better privacy. The phone won’t need internet connection for some smart features.
When and Where to Buy After Google Pixel 10 Launches August 20
The announcement happens at 1PM Eastern time on August 20th. Press people get invited to attend in person in New York City.
Phones should actually go on sale August 28th. That’s just eight days between announcement and being able to buy them. Most companies make people wait longer.
Pre-orders usually start right after they finish the announcement. Google sells directly through their website and some stores like Best Buy.
Fighting Apple and Samsung
Launching in August puts Pixel 10 right before Apple announces their iPhone 17 stuff in September. Google wants people thinking about Pixel phones before Apple gets everyone excited about new iPhones.
The folding Pixel has to compete with Samsung, who basically owns that market right now. Google’s betting that their software will work better for folding screens than Samsung’s approach.
Nobody knows pricing yet, but Pixel phones usually cost less than iPhones while having similar features. Having four different models means there should be something for different budgets.
This August 20th event is pretty important for Google. They’re trying to prove they can make phones that compete with Apple and Samsung by using AI features that others don’t have.
